SAVOR THE VAGUENESS

I really miss Japan. I have to go back some day before I die.

Pinarello Montello in Black Chrome (Chromonero). This is what I wanted for high school graduation back in ‘91! I got some running shoes instead… Campy C Record and STEEL the way it should be!

Gillian Welch and David Rawlings.

I like bluegrass, alternative, rap, folk, [death, heavy, acid, speed, thrash]metal, twee, hip-hop, jazz, fusion, electronica, trip-hop, punk, blah.

I like a lot of genres like anyone else does. The best artists are the ones who draw inspiration across those genres. The exceptional ones, in turn, realize the genius of those before them who have done just that. Kurt Cobain is here with the Kirkwood brothers (guitarist for the Meat Puppets), doing a redux of “Oh Me”, an excellent song by the Meat Puppets (who were a classic inspiration-driven band that could not be classified as a certain genre), and then “Where Did You Sleep Last Night”, a bluegrass standard performed in one form or another  by Leadbelly (http://youtu.be/a6yCEsDsGx4), and Bill Monroe (http://youtu.be/2UTOLuiB-_4) as “In the Pines”. Bill Monroe was also the inspiration for Bob Dylan, who was the main inspiration for Jimi Hendrix, who was the inspiration for just about everyone who has ever heard of him. Enjoy.

In honor of the ‘Tour. Rather than post pics of Cadel the Schlecks, I thought I’d post something a little different.

Japanese people. After living there, I have so much respect for them. They are very kind and humble. They were always so nice to me, no matter how much of a gaijin I was.
